Dynamic podcast host and storyteller Otis Smith, the voice behind the transformative nTerruptions Podcast, has been selected to join the American Library Association’s (ALA) legendary READ Campaign, promoting the power and joy of reading.

He joins a celebrated list of luminaries including LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Taylor Swift, and many others who have used their platforms to spotlight literacy.
Since its launch in 2020, the nTerruptions Podcast has become a powerful platform for honest dialogue and deep, soul-stirring conversations. Through his gift of connection, Smith has created a safe and enriching space for guests from all walks of life—from gospel legends like Carvin Winans to civil rights icon Bernice King, actor Ernest Thomas, and Grammy-nominated singer Will Downing.
“Reading has always been a vital part of my journey,” says Smith. “Books were my early introduction to new ideas, deeper thinking, and personal growth. To be part of a campaign that celebrates literacy and encourages people of all ages to pick up a book—it’s truly an honor.”
Otis Smith’s background is as multi-dimensional as his interviews. With experience in sports, theater, and ministry, Smith brings empathy, curiosity, and insight to every episode. He credits his time in semi-pro football, exposure to theater arts, and training as a minister for shaping his unique ability to connect with guests on a soul level.
“Whether I’m talking to a gospel icon, a Hollywood legend, or a rising entrepreneur, my mission remains the same—to create space for real voices and real stories,” says Smith. “The ALA’s READ campaign aligns perfectly with that purpose, reminding us that every story matters and every voice deserves to be heard.”
The nTerruptions Podcast is available on YouTube (@OtisASmith3), SoulTV via Roku, SoulRadio, and Facebook, and continues to grow its loyal audience by delivering inspiring and heartfelt conversations.
Through his latest collaboration with the ALA, Otis Smith hopes to inspire the next generation of readers, thinkers, and changemakers to interrupt the noise, pick up a book, and dive deep into what matters.
