The Black Tie Cinematic Symphony Coming to Los Angeles with Gospel Star Power – October 10th – Produced, arranged, and conducted by Leon Lacey

Producer, arranger, and conductor Leon Lacey has built a career on creating unforgettable musical experiences that bridge genres and generations.

Now, with the upcoming Black Tie Cinematic Symphony coming to Los Angeles on Friday, October 10 at West Angeles Church, he is set to deliver a groundbreaking night where gospel legends, cinematic storytelling, and an 80-piece live orchestra unite.

We sat down with Leon to talk about the vision behind this extraordinary concert, the legacy it celebrates, and what audiences can expect.

Q: Leon, what inspired the creation of the Black Tie Cinematic Symphony?

Leon: The inspiration came from my desire to merge my two great loves, music and film, into one unforgettable experience. I wanted to create a space where faith, storytelling, and the grandeur of a full orchestra could collide to inspire audiences on a deeper level.

Q: This concert features an incredible lineup of gospel greats. How did you bring together artists like Yolanda Adams, Israel Houghton, Judith Christie McAllister, Tye Tribbett, Nikko from “ELIN,” Iyanla Vanzant, and Hezekiah Walker?

Leon: Each of these artists brings a unique voice and energy to gospel music, and I have had the privilege of collaborating with many of them. When planning this event, I wanted voices that could not only inspire but also elevate the cinematic experience. Their artistry fits perfectly with the vision of this symphony.

Q: The concert will also include a special tribute to Bishop Charles E. Blake and Dr. Judith McAllister. Why was it important to you to include this element?

Leon: Bishop Blake’s leadership at West Angeles and within the Church of God in Christ has impacted millions around the world. His legacy of faith and service deserves to be celebrated, especially at an event taking place in the church he built into one of the largest in the nation. Dr. McAllister has also been an extraordinary leader in gospel music and worship. Her influence continues to shape how we experience music in the church. Honoring them both is an honor for us.

Q: What makes the Black Tie Cinematic Symphony experience different from a typical concert?

Leon: This is not just a concert, it is an immersive experience. We have an 80-piece orchestra performing live to film, which is something people do not often get to see in a sacred or gospel context. The combination of visuals, live instrumentation, and the voices of gospel legends makes this a night unlike any other.

Q: What do you hope audiences take away from this night?

Leon: I hope they walk away inspired, uplifted, and reminded of the power of music to heal, connect, and transform. I also want them to see how gospel music can stand side by side with orchestral music and cinematic storytelling to create something truly extraordinary.

The Black Tie Cinematic Symphony is more than a performance, it is a celebration of music, legacy, and inspiration.

This immersive concert experience offers audiences the rare opportunity to witness gospel’s finest voices alongside an orchestra of unmatched scale, blending sound, story, and spirit like never before.
